Huh? This is hardly "standards" but rather the authors personal formatting/commenting/coding preferences....

"6. There should be 2 line spaces between methods.

7. There should be 2-3 line space above closing brace (}) of the class.

8. Put at least one line space at the top and bottom of Try, Catch Finally. "

One thing in particular I totally disagree with is this (guideline to using comments):

"// Instantiate category object
Categories categories = new Categories();
// Load the category
categories.Load(); "

Anyone can clearly see that categories.Load(), "Loads the categories" you really don't need to comment each line.

DonNetFunda has some cool articles most of the time but this one definitely isn't one of them.

I disagree with lots in this article and some information I've already found on his site. I will be writing a counter argument to this on my blog today.

Agreed with Stefan P. It is too incomplete to be a comprehensive coding standard, and very detailed on trivial points. I'll stick with the IDesign coding standard for now ;)

22. Please check your spelling, grammar and example code for correctness before submitting an article.

picking out a couple (but obviously not all)

#7. TryParse returns a bool for whether it succeeds, not a 0 value integer... it also fails if you pass null to it, so you don't actually need to check it first.
#17. Please learn how to use the "using" keyword
#23. The two samples have entirely different behaviour... oddly enough I'm presuming the one he said was bad to do is the one that will work correctly.

Short version: Make sure the code follows the companies coding standards.

This article is bizarre, they're just coding standards, and some of the code is just wacky.

Is there a way to report something for removal? There is so much WRONG in this article that it's actually harmful/detrimental to the community and should be pulled immediately.

No offense, but how in the *world* did this get to the front page of DNK. It's just terrible. ;(

On another note, why not just use StyleCop? I've been using it and it works great. It catches lots of coding preferences (and has a toggle for each rule, if you don't like that rule). There's at least one (maybe 2) of the rules that VS 2008 goes against (putting using outside of namespace, I think) that you can disable.
