I thought of making a similiar post called "Scott Guthrie made a post so lets get it on the front page" ;) We might as well have his rss feed just go directly to the front page.

Good that we have Ralph here to tell us, what is great information and what is not, because he is so awesome. Just look at his history and admire how he has contributed to this community with all those great comments and tags. Not that he would have time to post examples of quality content...

uhh... where's the "Bury" option?

:D Funny post!

It's not hard to get on the front page with complex logic as

if aStory.kicks>=7
display aStory on front page.
posted by CVertex CVertex 9 months, 2 days ago
aStory.kicks >= 6 will do it

I really wish I would have had time to see his comments here -- did anyone else have the benefit of having him comment on your blog? From what I've seen, I picture the comic book guy from simpsons...

Refering to ralph I should have said :)

dengar: something like that:"Worst. Community. Ever." :P His message was basically that this site sucks, because people kick everything and we are morons because of that :D He never submitted anything, of course, which makes him just a troll who probably couldn't figure out how to code with Logo ;)

Yeah, I hope that no one thought I was talking down to dotnetkicks with this post, I was merely pointing out the obsession with MVC that the .net community is experiencing. I love dotnetkicks, even though apparently some people don't. =)

I think most people understand that it's a joke :)

@HoolieMan yeah, I suggest just that sometime back -- just have ScottGu's posts auto-publish via his RSS feed.

ScottGu writes great posts. Otherwise I might complain more. ;)

An example of why we need a bury option

Kicks in modern vernacular has good connotations, but I usually think kicking something is a bad thing.

"A rock is more intelligent than a cat because it goes away when you kick it".

If a "bury" option existed, what would it be called? Something of a metaphorical antonym to "kicks".

"Blows"?
"Sucks"?
"Hanus"?
posted by CVertex CVertex 9 months ago
On dotnetkicks instead of "bury" I would call it "punt".

"2 point conversion"?

is this well on its way to most commented on post?

Yes, DNK should emulate the sewer of the internet, Digg, in every way possible. That way we can also enjoy roving bands of bury-ers who, bound together by their fanboyism, bury any comment that doesn't slather praise on their particular fetish. Feh.

Sometimes I kick (or Digg for that matter) articles that aren't so great but that I will return to later.

I don't consider DNK or Digg as ranking services, but also as useful social bookmarking services. It is easier to find items of interest from recently kicked/dugg -lists.
If some article is worth returning to, I guess it is worth kicking/digging, anyway.
