KazenConf Resources are Coming Online

Even though the Continuous Improvement in Software Development Conference may be over, there is still much work being done to distill and distribute the knowledge, value, and magic that happened made KaizenConf 2008 the great success it was. The community is working hard to process and upload several hundred Gigabytes of video, we promise! Steven has links to all of the important sites, the wiki, and several of the videos that are already posted. Enjoy!

Windows Live Writer Makes Blogging Less of a Hassle

The blog CMS we use is great in a lot of ways but it's built in editor is really, really bad. Initially, I had used Microsoft Word to fill the gap, with disastrous results. Since then I have moved to using our blog software's horribly antiquated text editing system but that has limited my formatting options quite considerably. Now, after a recommendation from a friend, I am giving Windows Live Writer a shot. This blog post is a recursive review of my experience writing this blog post in Windows Live Writer.

In programming, clever != smart.

You ever have one of those days where you think you are the smartest man in the world and the best programmer at your place of work? Then some clever kid comes along and does something that speeds up your code by a few seconds/minutes? Ease your self. Just because that person just solved your problem, doesn't mean they are smart.

Accessing new Windows Vista features is a challenge from managed (.NET) code. The level of interoperability required is out of reach for many developers. The Vista Bridge is a sample library you can use in your own projects today that provides access to new user interface features as well as "behind the scenes" power features. Discover a shortcut to Windows Vista for Microsoft Visual Basic and Visual C# programmers and how you can get involved.

How Hard Could It Be?: The Unproven Path

"Hey, I know exactly what you should do!" I said. And I told him the idea about the Q&A site with voting and editing. A site like this would need a lot of smart programmers to ask and answer questions. Between our two blogs, we felt we could generate the critical mass it would take to make the site work. Jeff liked the idea, so we decided to make it a joint venture.
