evain.net — Lets look something further to the announce of M$ to release the source code of the .NET framework. In a possible future they can said that some of the MONO contributors is using them variable name convention, or that MONO copy a loop from the implementation of WPF. Is a smart trick from MS or you think that they become open ?

LoL

Did you read the page:

"If you have looked at Microsoft’s implementation of .NET or their shared source code, you will not be able to contribute to Mono. "

How do you think that an OpenSource project can exist without contributors ?

Truth is

1) "it's a cool thing to do" and
2) "we'll get lots of buzz if we do this" and
3) "everyone that will ever use this can already see the code using reflection so it won't hurt anything"

-1 for use of "M$" in a description. Let your audience reach their own conclusions without biasing them.

I'm glad to hear that =)

I just post that story because was the first thing to come to my mind after what ups with TestDriven.Net and the way with MS sue anyone, and thinking in the Balmer words about Linux that breaks all patents, or thinking in the office ribbon.

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but MS don't help me to be other way until today, so, maybe I will keep thinking in the counterpart.

BTW I agree that is a very very cool thing !! we stepping in into .NET frameworks is simply AWESOME !! and maybe some bugs in the framework can be fixed faster with this.

Miguel de Icasa has good words for it too and expose some other reasons for that
