weblogs.asp.net — As the community on DotNetKicks.com has grown in size over the past year, I have received received many offers of help with adding features and many requests for the source code. Due to other top secret commitments, I have recently not had as much time as I would have liked to continue the development of DotNetKicks.com. A discussion on DotNetKicks last week re-highlighted the issue of feature stagnation (the community is continuing to grow just fine). We are in the business of solving problems, and the best solution here is to open source the project. I had planned to release some code this past weekend, but some of the current dependencies include code that I don't wish to release. I am currently refactoring the dependencies, and I will be able to release some code very soon. Please shout it from the roof tops, we need all the contributers we can get.

Would be nice to get a team of developers, a bug/feature list, assign those tasks out and see some code roll in. Personally, although I am sure there are some features I would like having, I kind of like the site lightweight like it is currently. But, if there is a project that catches my eye, I could see myself contributing code to a site that has pointed to me to a lot of valuable resources.

A brilliant move. Open source is a smart direction to move in.
