This is basically just a recap of the top DNK stories for the week, so if you've been following along here, no need to visit.

Moving StringBuilder out is more practical though. So if you want to compare impractical solutions, leave it in the loop. To me, the comparison is invalid if its code I'd never write.

Sorry, to finish my thought....and this article involves much more than a single line. Interesting method (if you don't mind Reflection) but more involved than a single line.

Don't ever believe anything that says, "single line of code" because really you could do just about anything in a single line.

this could be the least informative web site ever. it hints at pay versions but doesn't explain what you get for free and what you don't. there should be a demo download of something it generates. the terms leave open the opportunity that they own what they generate.

Instead of just being a crumudgeon, why not explain what you don't like about it. Use your powers for good

Old standby tip that works great for small result sets. Don't even bother trying it on large tables (>100K rows)

"Controversy" is a poor choice of words. This is just the opinion of some guy that doesn't like it and the blog doesn't make anymore arguments besides what's in the DNK description. Lame.

A better question is what's missing from DNK that requires another copycat? Someone else just trying to get a few AdSense bucks? (because I'm sure Gavin is just rolling in the dough from this site....<g>)

1. Why duplicate what's already here? There's an established userbase here and good recognition across the "blogosphere" ("kick it" links are everywhere and showing up on more blogs all the time).
2. If you want a site that looks like digg, try digg.com. With all the SuperGu/Pligg copyright issues going on right now, I'd stay away from ripping off digg's design. They might be about to get really protective of it.
3. The audience is here, signal to noise ratio is excellent (almost never see any spam, gaming, etc.). There may not be a vibrant commenting community, but that may be for the best. Generally only quality content makes the front page, so the system is working.
4. DNK could use a few features (duplicate detection, more post reporting options, better user profiles, etc) but it's not missing anything major.

DNK, you have my heart :-). I don't program in DOTENET anyway. I prefer DotNet

It may not be interesting to you, but for some people out there that struggle to understand events and delegates, I can see this being very helpful. I struggled with this concept for a long time and couldn't find any concise demonstrations to help me out. This article would have been very helpful.

I'm going to be the jerk and say that if you're not posting anything other than a link to a download, then you should just post the link to the download here on DNK. If you're not adding any original content, you're just pointlessly linking to your blog.

Hey Gavin, can you update this link to point to http://john-sheehan.com/blog/index.php/net-cheat-sheets/

I really need to get some ISAPI rewriting setup to avoid direct linking....

Content basically ripped from my site: http://john-sheehan.com/blog/

Since this is just sitting in the registry, someone should make a VS Add-in to do this.
